Percussion: Week of Jan 27 - Feb 2

Hello everyone, there were some great things accomplished last week. Now onto the next one.

This week, we join the winds in full band rehearsals. Please plan accordingly. We are also performing at our first of two pep band gigs.

We have Pass Off 3 + 4 due this week and two rehearsals for NFPE. There will also be a supply check on Wednesday.

    • Sacrificial Rite (Fabian, Malenah and Aidan ONLY) from 3:30-4:30, Watercolor Sun from 4:30-5:30

  • Symphonic Band from 3:30-5:30

  • Pep Band from 6:00pm-8:30pm

• Wednesday

  • NFPE Rehearsal from 3:30-5:30

    • Sacrificial Rite (Eduardo ONLY) from 3:30-4:15, Watercolor Sun from 4:15-4:50, Sacrificial Rite (Joshua ONLY) from 4:50-5:30

  • Jazz Ensemble Rehearsal from 3:15-4:45

• Thursday

  • NO Wind Ensemble Rehearsal

• Friday (A Day)

  • Free after school

Supplies

Please make sure you bring concert snare sticks and a practice pad to band class every day. There will be a supply check on Wednesday for Sticks and a Practice Pad.

1 box of tissues per student is requested. No one has observed this request.

Drumline Jersey Order - Payments are past due

Please make payments for jerseys this week.

Please make payments for jersey’s through the following process:

1) Each jersey is $55.

2) Provide payments to the band boosters. Click HERE for instructions and different payment options.

3) If paying digitally, include a note that the payment is for jerseys and the student’s name. Send a screenshot with the payment confirmation to ncollins@garlandisd.net

4) Please pay for what you can as soon as you can. All jerseys should have been paid in full by Friday, November 22. Thank you to those who have met this deadline!

Concert Band Rehearsals Begin This Week!

Beginning this week (January 27), all percussionists will be expected at after school concert band rehearsals. Wind Ensemble Rehearsals are generally on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30-5:30. Symphonic Band generally meets on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30. It is important to review the full band communications from Mr. Falls and Mr. Choi for specific adjustments to the full band schedule that may occur due to other events held during the week.

This week, Wind Ensemble will only rehearse on Monday.

Pep Band Performances Begin This Week!

This Tuesday will be our first of 3 basketball game performances this year in a “Pep Band” format. We are planning to participate on Tuesday, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11. Games will start around 6pm and students will not be required to attend all games.

Above are the first 4 who have signed up for a game. Others may join as well, but the assignments above are expected to attend.

The 2025 Pep Band musical selections are as follows:

• Cheer Riffs (Bad Romance, Let’s Go Band, Land of 1000, Iron Man)

• Hip Hop Stadium Blasters (Powerline, Face The Bass)

• 7 Nation Army

• Treasure

• Fight Song

We will begin working on these in class. Students should have their flip folder for class. It is encouraged that students listen to these songs so you have an idea of what common drum set parts are that could be used.

Upcoming Assignments and Grades

• Pass Off 3+4 due Monday and Friday- minor grade

• Upcoming MAJOR GRADE - Supply Check on Wednesday, January 29 students will need a practice pad, binder, and pair of personal sticks.
