Meet Our Directors

Richard Falls Jr.

Director of Bands

In 2023, Mr. Falls will be entering his third year as the Director of Bands Prior to teaching at Naaman Forest, Mr. Falls taught in Burleson ISD and Westwood ISD. Mr. Falls is also on staff with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. 

When he is not teaching, Mr. Falls enjoys social dancing, exercise and watching sports. Mr. Falls lives in Dallas with his wife of 4 years Megan. They look forward to expanding their family in 2023

Nathaniel Collins

Director of Percussion

Nathaniel Collins began teaching at Naaman Forest in 2021. Mr. Collins has taught percussion for over 10 years in Garland, Plano, and Frisco. At Naaman Forest, Mr. Collins teaches all percussion courses and ensembles, including the drumline and percussion ensembles. Mr. Collins lives in Garland with his wife and daughter, who is a student at Spring Creek Elementary.

Brandon Choi

Assistant Band Director

Mr. Choi is in his first year of teaching. He attended Southern Methodist University for his undergraduate and masters. At Naaman Forest High School, Mr. Choi teaches the non-varsity band, beginner brass class, and beginner woodwinds class. Mr. Choi’s primary instrument is the saxophone, but his current favorite instrument is the banjo. 

 

Mattie Poulin

Colorguard Director

Mx. Poulin began teaching in 2019 as a colorguard technician at Commerce HS and Winnsboro HS, and then became a head director in 2022 at Aldine HS in the Houston area. Prior to taking on the director position at Naaman Forest they taught elementary music right here in Garland ISD. In addition to colorguard, Poulin’s primary instrument is the French Horn, and they will be assisting the band directors with all things French Horn and high brass.

When they are not teaching Mx. Poulin enjoys cooking, drinking/making coffee, playing video games with their partner or playing with their dog Yoonji. This will be Mx. Poulin’s very first year at Naaman Forest.
