Percussion: Week of August 19-24

Greetings NF Percussion. Thank you for a great first week of school. Your positive energy, and work is helping us have a great start to the year. Keep it up!

Tomorrow A1 will kick start our Vertical Raise fundraiser. Please make sure you have 20 quality contacts saved. See below for more information.

We will continue to establish our routine this week as classes are settling into place. Please take note of the different habits and actions you need to take to be successful each week in band, class, and your personal life. Also, make sure you take the steps to be prepared to pass off our upcoming show music and All-Region grades.

Cycle 1, Week 2 (B Week): August 19-24

  • Vertical Raise kick off during class

  • After School rehearsal from 3:30-5:30

  • Part 1 Pass-Offs due in class

  • After School Rehearsal from 3:30-6:30 at Naaman Forest

    • Please note the change of time and location due to anticipated extreme weather (temperature)

• Thursday

  • After School Rehearsal from 3:30-6:30

• Friday

  • Pep Rally during school

    • Pep Rallies are held at the end of the day with drumline playing for students as they enter the gym.

    • Wear your green band shirt.

  • Free after school

• Saturday

  • Drill Camp from 7:00am-10:00am at Naaman

• Sunday

  • Free

Vertical Raise - Band Fundraiser

Last week, students received information on our Vertical Raise Fundraiser. This is the biggest fundraiser our band has each year and we need the participation of all students.

All families should have the email address to 20 quality contacts. A quality contact is a friend, family member or co-worker that would be interested in supporting your participation in band. Save these email addresses to the notes portion of your phone. Phone numbers for messaging are also encouraged, but often receive less engagement outside of the start of the fundraiser and will limit your “engagement” score.

Upcoming Assignments and Grades

Students will pass off Part 1 in class on Wednesday. students will perform the miusic in subsections from memory. Battery will need to include appropriate mark-time.

All-Region Pass Offs will be due via video submission before August 28. This is an adjusted due date to provide more time for instruction, practice and determining how to best submit video assignments (FlipGrid is no longer as accessible).

Students will have a supply check in class on Wednesday. Students need a binder with all course handouts and a flip folder with all current music.

1st and 6th Period, be prepared to go outside during class

We will be going outside during class on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Please make sure you have appropriate clothes and water for warm weather. Time will be given during class to change into more comfortable clothing to wear for the remainder of the day.
